Horizon Net Support Policy


Horizon Net provides Internet Access. What this means is:

  • We are not responsible for the information content available on the Internet. Just as a bookstore has many choices available, the Internet has a large variety of content. Some of it will be of value to you, some of no value and some of it may offend you. You are responsible for choosing what you view and what you do not view.

  • We are responsible to ensure that the basic software that we provide works on your system. This includes connectivity, E-mail, Web Browsing and News reader software. Our telephone tech support will be pleased to assist you with the initial installation and configuration of this software by phone if necessary.

  • We are not responsible for assisting you in installing and configuring software that was not provided with our installation disks. This includes other Internet software such as FrontPage, or PowWow, etc., application software such as Word Perfect, etc., Windows software such as Windows 3.x or Windows 95, etc. In other words we will not teach you how to use Windows. We provide only limited MAC Internet software support.

  • Although Horizon Net makes every effort to protect your infomation stored on our server, such as email and webpages, we are not responsible for loss as a result of hardware failure or human error. Please ensure you have copies of all your files and email on your own computer.

  • There is no charge for Internet telephone support to set up dial-up networking and your e-mail configuration. For telephone support beyond basic configuration and setup, we charge $30.00 per hour. On site set-up of dial-up networking and e-mail is charged at the rate of $30.00 for a standard installation. Travel time is included in our $30.00 fee on a standard installation within the Greater Victoria Area and Saanich Peninsula. There is a $10.00-$20.00 extra fee for travel between Langford and Sooke/Jordan River and north of Goldstream Park to Duncan. Our consulting fee is charged at the rate of $50.00-$75.00 per hour for technical support relating to other computer problems with a minimum 1 hour charge.

  • We supply 5 Megabyte of disk space for a personal web page or a basic commercial web page with our Personal Access Plans. We supply 10 Megabytes of disk space for a commercial web page with our Business Access Plans. If you require more disk space, please check our web site rates. Block hour accounts do NOT include any web disk space.

  • We offer web site design and maintenance services for a fee. Please call 361-4410 or send e-mail to support@horizon.bc.ca for more information. If you require information on how to upload your Web Site files to our server, please send us an email.

  • Horizon Net is not responsible for the forwarding of email sent to any account which has been suspended or terminated. Such email will either be returned to sender, ignored, deleted, or stored temporarily, at Horizon Net's sole discretion.
